‘The Voice’: Bryce Leatherwood has won, but the internet has mixed feelings

Leatherwood represented Team Blake on the show, winning the country artist over in the blind auditions when he sang Conway Twitty’s “Goodbye Time.”

Leatherwood also proved to be popular with fans at home, making it through three live performances singing country songs like “Amarillo by Morning” by George Straitt, “Sand in My Boots” by Morgan Wallen and “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” by Justin Moore before taking home the grand prize Tuesday. Each performance earned him enough votes by the fans to send him through to the next round in the competition.

Like past winners of the show, Leatherwood will get $100,000 and a record deal with Universal Music Group.

Despite his success, not all fans of the show are happy about his win. Some are thrilled. Some wish him well, but think other contestants deserved it more.

Here is what the internet is saying.

One fan expressed disappointment in the show, saying fourth place contestant Omar Jose Cardona deserved it all.

“Omar not only not winning but being in *fourth place* is why this show is a joke actually,” the user said on Twitter.

Another fan replied to the tweet with their thoughts saying that country “always wins.”

“Not shocked. Country always wins cause country fans are the biggest audience. Leatherwood was not original. Just another country boy.”

One viewer called Leatherwood’s win “one of the worst” in the shows history.

“That is one of the WORST results that this show has ever seen. Absolutely absurd,” the user wrote.

Another came to “The Voice” competitor Morgan Myles defense.

“He sang the same monotonous crap every week. Doesn’t have the vocals that Morgan has,” the Twitter account said about both contestants.

Historically, coach Shelton has the most wins on the show. He has won with his contestants nine times since the show first aired in 2011.

Now, some are thinking the show is rigged in his favor.

“I am starting to think #TheVoice is rigged for Blake Shelton’s artist to win! Bodie or Morgan deserved to have won!!” a Twitter user said.

Despite the uproar, not everyone online had negative things to say. Another Twitter user congratulated Leatherwood.

“If anyone other than Omar won the voice, I’m glad it was Bryce! For anyone who doesn’t like country music, I respect it but for those who do, it was a great choice. Congrats Bryce!”

“I knew Bryce Leatherwood would win The Voice. Had him picked since day one! Bright future in Country. Congrats,” another wrote.

Some fans expressed their opinion that they believe Leatherwood didn’t have the best voice, but they still wished the winning team well.

“I like Bryce, and while I did think he killed it last night, he’s not better than Bodie or Omar. Anyhoo, congrats to Blake Shelton for bringing another one home.”

Like many viewers at home one user said “I am so shocked.” But still managed to give Leatherwood a congratulations.

No matter the mixed reactions, the internet is still showing to be fans of Leatherwood.

“I was so hoping it would be Bryce!! He is the next George Strait for sure. Pure country,” a user wrote.
