The launch of the RTX 4080 was dotted with rumors regarding bad sales. But, as it is with every high-end GPU release, it didn’t take long for scalpers to start offering the boards at ridiculously high prices on eBay. Later reports claimed that these scalped RTX 4080s were selling much worse than the RTX 4090s on eBay which wasn’t surprising since the RTX 4080 has a bad price/performance ratio compared to its predecessor. As it now turns out, the customers have been buying the RTX 4080 in troves regardless of the exorbitantly high asking price.
According to Tom’s Hardware, the GIGABYTE GAMING OC RTX 4080 with an asking price of US$1,589, US$389 more than the RTX 4080 Founders Edition, is the best-selling GPU on Newegg. The second place is occupied by the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3060 Ti that is selling for US$409.99. Interestingly, the GIGABYTE GAMING GeForce RTX 4090 sits in the 4th place. The RTX 4090 Founders Edition has an MSRP of US$1,599. The AIB models often cost more.
In fact, out of 10 graphics cards featured on the list, 3 are RTX 4080 models which should give you an idea about the board’s popularity.
Over on AMD’s side, the ASRock Radeon RX 6700 XT and MSI Mech Radeon RX 6600 are the 8th and 9th best-selling GPUs. They are also the most economical options on the list costing US$359.99 and US$235.98 for the RX 6700 XT and the RX 6600 respectively.
